Description

The Wireless Network Services Technician will provide wireless LAN services and technical expertise, along with traditional LAN and WAN support. Duties will require knowledge and skill sets across networking technologies and components. This position will interact with regional IS associates, Telecom Engineering, other Technology Services Delivery units, and Client support staff.

Responsibilities
  • Wireless LAN systems installation, administration, and maintenance.
  • Identification and resolution of network problems including routing, connectivity, and application performance issues.
  • LAN analysis using network management systems and tools.
  • Problem and Change Management.
  • Production systems implementation.
  • Support for network integrations, regional networking initiatives, and office moves & upgrades.
  • Facilitate service and support from service providers, third party vendors, and third level technical support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related field or the equivalent in training and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years supporting networking services to include production and technical support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are necessary.
  • Highly organized, structured, and process oriented; team building skills a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Network certifications in Aruba and/or Cisco networking a plus.
SKILLS

Must have experience troubleshooting complex LAN/WAN & application performance problems to resolution in multitasking environment. Security policies knowledge required. Hands-on experience in the following needed: equipment installation and configuration of wireless controllers and access points; remote network service and support; network monitoring/diagnostic equipment; interpretation of packet captures; network documentation tools such as Visio a plus; command line interfaces for configuration and troubleshooting. Must have working knowledge of TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, OSPF, RIP, HSRP, and VRRP and be able to interpret trace route command results. Must be able to validate devices in path of trace; identify any latency between devices in trace path; determine after trace ends before reaching destination which group should be contacted for the respective device; and identify responsible groups in the network for forwarding problems.
