Description
A Unix/Linux Systems Administrator is required for a possible long term contract opportunity in Valencia, Spain. You will be contracting with a global and internationally recognised organisation and providing systems administration within a team of consultants at this client s new facility. This is a shift based contract n an English speaking environment and applicants should have a proven background of being a systems administrator in the Unix and Linux domains.Unix/Linux Systems Administrator duties will include:
* Day-to-day Unix/Linux and Mainframe operations support and maintenance
* Troubleshooting and administration tasks related to Unix/Linux and Mainframe
* System administration tasks related to standard server software such as database Servers, web Servers, Application Server, etc.
* Provide first and second level support for incidents when they occur using the client s own Incident Management process
* Handle service requests using the client s own Request fulfilment process
* Ensure access is granted to systems for authorized users and preventing access to non-authorized users by using the ICC access Management process.
* Any other duties as required
* Work on a shift based system and be prepared for on-call service
Skills Required include:
* Five years or more of professional IT experience
* Proven experience in the system administration of Unix/Linux
* Mainframe and server support experience
* Ability to manage and apply updates, patches, bug fixes and other deployments to the Unix/Linux server farms
* Very good experience with the use of monitoring tools such as HPOV NNM, Nagios, Microsoft SCOM, SCCM, and general Event Management exposure
* Unix/Linux certifications are highly desirable
* Practical experience with data recovery software operations and knowledge of disaster recovery and data protection software
* Good experience with LAN, WAN and Internet technologies and protocols
* Practical experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN)
* Good knowledge of Scripting for monitoring, task automation, etc
* Familiar with Service Management tools (Ticketing systems)
* Experience with automated provisioning and integrated infrastructure management tools
* University degree in computer or information science, mathematics or related field
* Knowledge of Service Management best practices (ITIL)
