An exciting opportunity for a Vehicle Safety Engineer has arisen with my client a prestigious automotive company in the West Midlands.
Main Duties Include;
- Develop safety strategy for product range to suit market requirements and future legislation
- Develop safety technology roadmap for companies products
- Define vehicle level safety targets
- Define vehicle safety system specifications to meet defined vehicle safety requirements
- Propose and develop internal standards for vehicle safety
- integration of safety systems to ensure efficient HMI and a high quality user experience
- Work closely with Style and Concept teams to provide package and "shape" guidance
- Analyse computer simulation results and propose solutions if simulation results do not meet targets
- Production of the system safety case
- System Hazard analysis and risk estimation
- Production of test plans & DVVP's
- Liaison with system suppliers to ensure safety requirements are met and documented
- Analyse physical test results and propose solutions and ensure their adoption with related sections if the physical test results do not meet targets
Main Competencies:
- Extensive experience in Vehicle Safety engineering and development.
- Experience in safety engineering, key skills:-
- Highly competent in Crash Safety; occupant protection, pedestrian impact, vehicle restraints systems and whole vehicle crash
- Highly competent in safety related systems, particularly complex electronic systems
- Competent understanding CAE/FEA & physical test results and undertaking physical test procedures
- Development of safety strategy
- Development of DVVP and test plans
- Ability to understand risks, undertake and develop risk assessment protocols
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree (Mechanical or Automotive) or equivalent experience
