Job Title: Costs Draftsman

Job Description:
Our client a leading Central Public Sector Organisation are currently seeking an experienced Costs Draftsman to work part time to help the in-house securities team.
Deliverables:
*Drafting bills and statements of costs on behalf of client departments when there is a costs order in the client's favour or a claim has been discontinued. Arranging for these costs to be assessed by the Court if agreement cannot be reached,
*Dealing with the assessment and payment of adverse costs on behalf of client departments when an order for costs has been made against the client,
*Providing advice to client departments and litigation case officers on all aspects of costs, including costs of Public Enquiries,
*Providing training to clients and litigation case officers,
Experience & skills:
*The candidate should be professionally qualified as a Costs lawyer or Costs draftsman and demonstrate current experience in that role.
*Knowledge of the legal profession and understanding of how legal costs services are delivered within the government and in the private sector,
*Proven track record in a National Security cases, high value immigration matters and commercial costs cases,
*Ability to negotiate to settlement high value complex costs cases,
*Experience in mediation within the costs arena,
*Excellent written and oral communication skills, including points of dispute, detailed assessment hearing and mediation,
*Ability to advice client departments and case handlers to promote economic settlement of costs claims
*A robust up to date knowledge of costs law and changes within the field,
*Experience of providing costs training,
Due to the nature of the work undertaken the candidate will have to undergo a Basic Security Clearance and people with SC Clearance would be of particular interest
Due to the nature and urgency of this post, candidates holding or who have held high level security clearance in the past are most welcome to apply. Please note successful applicants will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment which can take up to a minimum 10 weeks.
