KEY DIMENSIONS

  • To support the development and maintenance of architecture assets (incl. operating models, solution designs, application and interface views, process maps, templates, standards and policies)
  • To be responsible for shaping and creating project/programme solutions (business and IT), to provide hands-on support for early project stages (up to business case stage) and to support delivery assurance, according to approved solution design
  • To set the direction and drive adherence to architecture methods, tools, standards and policies for the Bank
  • To support the creation and delivery of the Banks' Change Portfolio
  • Influencing and communicating at all levels across the Bank

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS NEEDED

  • Experience as an enterprise solution architect on major change or transformational programmes with a broad range of analytical, design and IT skills, preferably in Retail Banking
  • Experience of working in a complex sourcing environment with multiple, diverse partnerships
  • Broad experience of all architecture domains (incl. business, data, applications, integration, infrastructure and security) and relevant reference models, standards and patterns
  • Specific detailed experience of management of third party suppliers' activities and deliverables (incl. planning, stakeholder management, influencing, assurance)
  • Broad experience in enterprise level application/integration/technical architectures
  • Architecture at the conceptual (high-level), logical and physical (detailed) levels
  • Proven ability to design and deliver flexible, reliable, operable, cost effective business and IT solutions
  • Demonstrable experience in architecture standards, services, solution design and implementation, architecture principles and architecture views
  • Solid interpersonal skills and a confident and capable communicator and influencer within different groups and at all levels, demonstrating the ability to manage potentially conflicting demands of a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to take a strategic view and see the 'big-picture', aligned to the ability to adopt an analytical approach to complex problem solving and consideration of operational implications
  • Good level of project management and delivery skills (eg facilitation, planning, authoring/review of design documentation)
  • Proficient in translating complex/technical issues and concepts clearly to meet the needs of the audience (including coaching others to do the same)
  • Experience of use and adoption of relevant architecture frameworks and tools
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the IT and Retail Banking marketplace and trends
  • High standards of document production and review (including but not limited to non-functional requirements, process maps, technical documents, models, test plans, business cases, plans)
  • Recognises the importance of the 'customer' including supporting/enabling decisions to be made based on customer strategies, feedback, insights and trends
  • Inspires and energises the Change & IT team and project teams through enabling them to see how their work impacts business results and ensuring they remain informed on relevant business information
