DATA SCIENTIST/ENGINEER

12 Month Contract

The Data Scientist/Engineer functions at the expert level under the general direction of Business Lead to develop and implement quantitative models, analytics, and tools necessary to support business objectives. Can act in a lead capacity on complex assignments, or can work independently or on a team as a high level technical specialist. Provides interpretation and explanation of the results of a Business Intelligence and/or analytical effort.

General Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to reason logically and creatively and use a variety of analytical and research techniques to solve complex problems; analyze situations and propose an effective course of action; analyze data; identify the need for and provide creative thinking related to complex problems, develop and evaluate alternatives
  • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of audience types using different mechanisms including informal updates, formal presentations, business case documents, and other analytical and technical documents
  • Must have participated in at least two (2) or more successfully completed projects
  • Must possess a strong understanding of information technology fundamentals, project management fundamentals, and systems development life cycle
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain strong cooperative working relationships and to use inter-disciplinary teams effectively in managing project tasks and activities under the direction of the Project Manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting the design and development of analytical models, tools, or programs such as SAS
  • Must have knowledge of the languages and applications used in quantitative development. Must have the ability to extract meaning from data and create data products
  • Must have the ability to implement technology solutions for complex business problems. The problems will require a combination of different fields and theories including math, statistics, data engineering, pattern recognition and learning, visualization, uncertainty modelling, data warehousing, and advance computing
  • Must have the ability to express quantitative and technical information in a simple and intuitive manner to a variety of audience types using different mechanisms including informal updates, formal presentations, business case documents, and other analytical and technical documents
