Summary:
We are seeking SQL Server DBA's for our client that is a market leader in the prepaid industry. Your skill set must include 5+ years of SQL Server Database Administration, experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service, in addition to experience in managing the internal and external SQL Server database security. The SQL Server DBA will shadow senior resources that work remotely, documenting what they do, system configurations and making recommendations for improved performance and reliability. The ideal candidate has a background that includes database administration, architect and developer as these skills are needed to support segmentation project database requirements and systems analysis. This is a 6 month contract opportunity. MULTIPLE OPENINGS!
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure and performance tuning of databases for each segment
- Responsible for supporting SQL Server databases and ensuring their performance, availability and security.
- Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system.
- Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include Deployments and upgrades
- Manage changes and database table reduction
- Implement and manage data replication
- Identify tables and data elements that can be eliminated or archived to reduce data processing needs
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience
- Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service
- Experience of SQL Server cluster installation, maintenance and support
- Experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
- Experience in managing the internal and external SQL Server database security
- Experience in Transact SQL (T-SQL) development, especially in stored procedure and views
- Experience in Microsoft Visual Studio development IDE for database and data comparison and test data generation
- Experience working in Windows Server environments
- Ability to follow all company policies and procedures as well as internal departmental procedures to ensure consistency in systems
- Ability to investigate and assess issues to make certain the correct solution is implemented
- Willingness to take ownership for own work to continuously improve performance
- Hands-on experience on relational database ER model design
- Experience supporting 24X7 production environments
- Document standard procedures, problems resolutions and environment modifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and good written and verbal communication skill
- Maintain high standards of work and composure in challenging situations
- Experience with key database modelling tools like Embarcadero ER/Studio, CA ERWin
