Structures Engineer

Job Description
The purpose of this role is to provide the Air Vehicle Team Structures Sub-CAM with structural engineering capability and to support the Typhoon Tranche 3 provisions clearance and ESCAN capability embodiment.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following;
*Provide the Air Vehicle Team Structures Sub-CAM with structural engineering capability
*Support the Typhoon Tranche 3 provisions clearance and ESCAN capability embodiment
*Assessment of structural engineering Finite Element Modelling (FEM) data to support clearance of the Typhoon Structures workload within the Air Vehicle Team CAM 202
*Loading assessment, FEM interrogation, Structural Analysis (Static and Fatigue), hand stressing of metallic and CFC components and generation of structural analysis reports
*Carry out relevant stress analysis on existing/revised/new structural components in support of the qualification of the Typhoon airframe

The Individual
The following will be required of the successful candidate:
*Experience of Structural Engineering (Metallic and CFC) and an understanding of finite element modelling
*Experience of Stress analysis, NASTRAN, UNIX and Linux and a good grasp of IT interfaces and word/data processing (MATLAB/MathCAD_
*Experience in interpreting structural modelling output and techniques for the Mainframe of airframe integrity
*HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
*Microsoft Office experience
*Communication skills
*Team working skills
