My client, a leading Medical Device company based in the Minneapolis area, now has a pheomenal 6 month contract opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Engineering team within new product development.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be involved with the full product lifecycle including device design, design modelling, tooling, molding and lab testing utilizing GMP and ISO Standards. The main responsibilities for this position will include:

- Mechanical Design of Medical Devices in 3-D design with a focus on CAD/CAM systems for the design of device parts and tool/mold design for high volume injection molded plastics

- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

- MoldFlow analysis to determine the manufacturability of device parts

- Stress Analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

- Review of Product and Tool Design using Pro/E, Pro/Mechanica, Pro/Surface CD for analysis and product improvement

- FMEA Analysis

Candidates for this exciting position must have some or all of the following skills and experience:

- Bachelors Degree or higher in one of the following Engineering fields - Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Materials, Polymer or Engineering Science

- Mold Flow Analysis of Mold and Tool Design

- Molding Parameters Optimization

- Medical Device design including Part Design, Subassembly Design and System Design Integration

- Device Testing
