Computer Futures are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for a key client based in theAndover/Winchesterarea.

You will be responsible to provide daily technical administration and management of the operation of the IT infrastructure across all sites in accordance with the Current (ICT) Strategy. To design, develop, implement, test and document key infrastructure enhancements and upgrades. To provide expert level of support and problem resolution to both operational and new project infrastructure work.

You will be reporting to the Operations Manager, and will carry out daily checks on the IT infrastructure and systems, resolve calls assigned to second line support in line with specified service levels. You will also monitor backup processes to ensure the security of corporate data and administer corporate SQL databases.

Principal Accountabilities:

Infrastructure & Operational Support

Resolve incidents reported to the IT Service Desk;

Raising, assessing impact and implementing change requests (RFCs); ensuring

change control process is adhered to;

Active Directory (AD) & Server Management; managing hardware utilisation, monitoring data growth, implementing automatic alerts and reacting promptly to alarms; production of statistic reports & analysis of trends, etc.;

Ensuring computer room environment is managed effectively;

Ensuring remote sites are regularly monitored; managing telephone system

servers; creating & maintaining quality management system documentation;

Organising routine maintenance of the corporate infrastructure.

New Technologies & Project work

Researching, testing and trialling new technologies; designing and deploying proof of concepts. Provide expert technical advice and guidance on projects to enhance infrastructure and line of business applications.

Virtualisation Architecture Management

Responsible for the management & maintenance of the corporate virtualisation environment which delivers all services to the IT users.

Security Management (McAfee)

Responsible for the effective configuration and deployment of the corporate Anti-Virus solution to servers & desktops; the GCSx Code of Connection (AD work); remote access (VASCO) support. Advises the IT senior management of any potential security threats.

Storage Area Network (SAN) management

Responsible for the design, configuration, monitoring, management and maintenance of the corporate data storage functions.

Disaster Recovery, High Availability & Test Environment Architecture

Responsible for the effective design, deployment and management of the technical elements of the IT Business Continuity Plan.

Network Support

Provides backup to the Networks manager in supporting the corporate network. Provides support for the infrastructure monitoring environment using What's Up Gold (WUG).

Ideal Candidate Background:

A strong IT background as well as experience of working in a service delivery is required. Applicants will have Microsoft Server support to Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) levels and extensive experience of multiple systems support in a production environment, including Citrix, VMware, Active Directory, Anti-Virus, Domain Management, Network Switches and SAN Management.

Training will be provided on the use of the Service Desk system.

The salary for this role will be starting at £27,000 with a review after 6 months to increase up to 31,000 . This also includes an excellent benefit package that includes a final salary pension.
