Working as a part of the Patient Safety group this role will provide systems support to internal and external teams globally to perform activities enabling the optimal use of safety-related information and systems in the context of safety and pharmacovigilance.
The role:
- Signal management, clinical data interpretation, periodic reporting, SERM activities and the production of high-quality and timely responses to safety queries.
- Enable effective information management and information sharing activities within Patient Safety, in line with business priorities.
- Manage the delivery of enabling information solutions, applications and systems support to Patient Risk Management Planning activities, via the provision of scientific and technical expertise.
- Deliver scientific contributions (eg support for the optimal utilization of safety information and systems; analytical or informatics support) for one or more projects (including drug projects) in accordance with the operating model and in support of AstraZeneca business plans and priorities
- Lead specific sub-areas of scientific and technical activity within the Systems and Information Strategy Section; potentially performing the role of a subject matter expert or Business Tool Manager in area(s) of information or systems infrastructure.
- Lead or contribute to the development and implementation of new safety-related systems, processes, procedures and related people capabilities across the department.
- Take ownership for a local or global process with empowerment to represent the department across the department or with key stakeholders.
- Represent the team on specific Patient Safety teams (eg continuous improvement teams, improvement project teams).
- Support a performance-driven culture
- Maintain knowledge in relation to relevant technical disciplines (eg information management, analytical approaches, informatics)
The requirements:
- A degree or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences or a related subject
- Proven industrial experience in a related position and ideally within Patient Safety or Pharmacovigilance
- Patient Safety database experience (eg ARGUS or ARIS or PhaseForward)
- Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate, persuade and influence others
