Position: Senior Quality Engineer
Job type: Contract (6 months initially)
Skills: Continuous improvement, material verification, metallurgy, system audit or suppliers.
Location: Cumbria easily commutable from Barrow and Morecombe and with excellent access from the Lake District.
Salary: Negotiable hourly rate

Outsource UK Ltd is actively seeking to recruit a Senior Quality Engineer for a contract role on behalf of a client.

The Client:
A leading Engineering and Defence organisation

The Job:
Seeking to recruit a Senior Quality Engineer who will be responsible for the following:
Lead routine quality activities without immediate supervision.
Supply a technical interface with customers (internal and external) at a detailed level.
Encourage a continuous improvement ethos within assigned business area(s).
Make decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development.

To be able to access, have a clear understanding of and apply the Submarines Process Library and associated documentation, eg Process/Maps Instructions, Workmanship Standards etc., applicable to your particular work scope.
Visit suppliers premises to accept equipment and verify documentation for the asutute class submarine programme
Conduct system audits of suppliers.
Whitness factory acceptance testing.
Conduct material verification activities.
To be able to access, have a clear understanding of and apply the Quality and SHE Management System documentation, eg Process Maps/Instructions, Workmanship Standards, Risk Assessments etc., applicable to your particular work scope and to adhere to all quality and SHE rules and control measures.

Skills, qualifications & Experience.
Metallurgy Degree or suitable relevant experience in metal/product verification.
Ability to interface with suppliers and supplier premises.
Self motivated
Ability to interface/discuss at all levels of the management structure
Audit qualifications and audit experience
Experience in compiling visit reports would be beneficial.

Preferably hold a current valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle with the appropriate insurance.
