Purpose of Role:
Electrical design, supplier management, estimating, site support

Principal Accountabilities

This key position requires effectiveness both technically and the ability to manage site activity and suppliers. You will be working as part of a team providing support to Sales, Customers and other technical departments.
* Safe, efficient and cost effective design of electrical control and distribution systems.
* Continuous development of company standards which improve the competitiveness, efficiency, quality and safety of processes and products.
* Assist the Sales team win new business by providing technically and commercially competitive solutions.
* Ensure engineering design output meets customer specifications and all relevant national, international and industry standards, directives and codes.
* Ensure design office and company guidelines are maintained, are current and staff fully understand and implement in all areas of work.
* Take full responsibility for management and completion of strategic objectives as explicitly agreed with your manager.
* Ensure all work is completed on time, to an agreed specification and within budget. Where necessary advise your manager of any variation, quality, safety, overspend or deviation to programme.
* Maintain vigilance and alert management of change in legislation, industry trends, technical advancement or commercial opportunity.
* Perform system calculations and studies for electrical power systems - load flow, voltage drop, motor starting and short circuit studies.
* With high quality and attention to detail, producing and/or reviewing EC&I design package, drawings and schedules including but not restricted to;

o Electrical schematics
o Electrical distribution equipment specifications
o Vendor technical specifications
o Control philosophy, FDS
o P&ID's
o User requirement specification
o I/O, alarm and trip schedules
o Equipment data sheets
o Instrument schedules
* Manage and implement FAT and SAT tests for control panels and systems, generate good quality reports and recommendations on findings
* Prepare tender specifications for procurement of control panels, motor control centres and site wiring, provide quotations for internal Sales department for such equipment
* Integrate closely with Process, Engineering, Project and Site teams to ensure projects are completed on-time and to budget.

Opportunities exist for advancement and promotion, dependant upon normal staff movements, geographical mobility and on the capabilities of the individual post holder.

The department encourages training both 'in-house' and external to meet the needs of the individual and the department, in-line with the Divisional Training Plans.

Large, complex industrial electrical control and distribution system
Process plant, rotating machinery and materials handling equipment

Auxiliary pneumatic, hydraulic and electro-mechanical drive systems

PLC, SCADA, HMI, remote I/O and other computer systems and interface protocols such as Ethernet, Profinet

Project management tools and techniques

CAD, electrical drawings, schematics, and parts lists
