Report to the Sr. Director of Electrical & Software Engineering
Role Summary
This position will lead the electrical engineering activities including product development, launch, and post launch support.
Responsibilities include:
- Optimize or create new features, products, and work processes.
- Develop design and verification methodologies to improve development process efficiencies.
- Generate high quality development documentation.
- Perform hands on tests for root cause analysis, design characterization, validation and verification of hardware and software features.
- Utilize analytical and test skills to investigate issues and identify patterns and sources of defects.
- Utilize electrical design tools such as OrCAD, PADS, and Circuit Simulations.
- Utilize lab equipment such as oscilloscope, logic analyzer, waveform generators, for example.
Deliverables
- Contribute to and identify the Company's strategy, communicate effectively and build internal and external trust.
- Acquire and apply knowledge of customer needs to ensure that products meet requirements in cost effective ways.
- Generate and support protection of intellectual property with understanding of competitive environment.
- Communicate proposals and implications in a manner that is accessible to broad groups of reviewers and enables others to understand and contribute to solutions.
- Align activities of multi-disciplinary and cross-company teams.
- Develop high quality design strategies and implementation plans that span multiple product lifecycles from concept through launch.
- Pursue fundamental scientific, medical, market, economic, financial analyses.
- Develop effective team resource plans, structures and processes (incl. quality mgt.)
- Execute plans consistent with program schedules.
- Create and/or review product design specifications.
- Evaluate and document product prototype test results.
- Design and execute experiments, analyze results, and propose product improvements.
- Develop strategic partnerships (with external development partners and internal manufacturing team) to facilitate design transfer.
- Complete work area activities and deliver results to partners consistent with project timelines.
- Regular and timely communication of plans, issues and critical decisions to the project team and functional area managers.
- Create technical reports and communicate results in a manner that is accessible to key partners.
Role Requirements
- Must have experience with electronic design, prototyping, and/or SW development.
- Proficiency with electrical design tools such as OrCAD, PADS and Circuit Simulations.
- Knowledge of embedded firmware implementation, development, and test.
- Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscope, logic analyzer, waveform generators, etc.
- Experience in building and testing of software controlled electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Must thrive on working on multiple projects at a time, coordinating with several people.
- Experience with design and document control for FDA regulated products preferred.
- At least ten years of product development experience.
- At least five years of experience developing high production volume electronic products.
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
