Description

The client is one of the UK`s leading renewable energy developers and operators. It is proposed to have between 50 and 150 wind turbine generators at the site that will be connected to an offshore substation platform. The Onshore Site Manager shall act as the onsite Representative/Resident Engineer initially during the enabling works site development and moving on to the construction of the HV substation and associated onshore works.

The Onshore Site Manager will be required to have knowledge and experience in civil engineering, in site management of HV substation construction including technical knowledge of civil engineering, HV Mechanical & Electrical Installations, onshore HV cable installation, testing & commissioning of HV systems and cables.

The role will require the need to become familiar with the contract works information, design and conditions, the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan, the Employers Requirements (specifications) and any relevant contractors operating and installation procedures.

The Onshore Site Manager will need to be experienced in managing relationships with stakeholders on site including the Environment Agency, land owners and contractors on adjacent sites, and will be the project presence onsite.

A base location local to the site and flexibility with working periods would be advantageous.


Project Organisation

- Reporting to the Electrical Package Manager in all site related activities with respect to onshore enabling works including site management and technical management.
- Maintain a planning schedule of all site activities.
- Supervise, monitor and report all site works.
- Manage site interfaces.
- Fulfilling project requirements under the project controls and governance system.
- Participate in the relevant project weekly and monthly meetings.
- Organise and chair technical/progress meetings with the Contractor when necessary.
- Assisting with project budget and programme definition.

Safety and Environment

- Ensure Contractors Health & Safety Plans, Contractors Environmental Management Plans, Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan are maintained.
- Monitor and control that the developments is compliance and consistent with consent conditions, policy and regulations
- Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company`s policies and procedures, ensuring the welfare of personnel and the protection of assets and the environment at all times.

Quality

- Ensuring that the Contractors are in compliance with the Employers Requirements in terms of technical and quality specifications.
- Review of site related risk assessments, method statements and inspection reports.
- Monitor and supervise material testing and construction.


Knowledge and Skills:

- Extensive experience as a Civil Site Manager role on major HV substation development projects would be ideal
- High level safety qualifications such as NEBOSH would be an advantage
- A proven track record in civil engineering and HV substation site construction management
- A practical approach to civil engineering practice
- The ability to control and enforce CDM (2007) and Health and Safety requirements
- The capability to work within a team and to manage competing demands from the project
