£40 per hour LTD

Outsource UK Ltd is actively seeking to recruit a Environmental Engineer for a contract role on behalf of a client.

The Client:
A leading Engineering and Defence organisation

The Job:
The client is looking to have a Product Environmental Management System in place with the ultimate aim to provide a full body of evidence ie an Environmental case (similar to a product safety case) to demonstrate that all the environmental impacts and risks have been identified, addressed and mitigated. It will involve the collection and gathering of information, data, reports etc. From system design engineers, suppliers; and coordination with the customer and other stakeholders.

Essentially it is all about understanding and being protective of the environment and the context of the latest naval programme. It is the consideration of the environmental impacts of the naval programme from design through to disposal, taking into consideration the emissions to the air, water and land, the use of materials and particularly hazardous materials, what waste is generated and how it can be disposed of, the disposal of systems equipment and the naval programme at the end of life, the noise aspects of the programme and the impact on the ecology and naval programme life and all within the law.

Skills, qualifications & knowledge

A relevant environmental degree- or engineering with an environmental slant
Previous experience of environmental management systems (ISO 14001)
Experience of working in an environmental discipline/with technical issues
Understanding of environmental legislation
A positive attitude to environmental protection
Possibly have some marine knowledge/experience
Good people skills and shows initiative.

Successful candidate must be eligible to achieve SC Clearance.
