RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Fabricates, assembles, installs, and removes a variety of parts, sub-assemblies, controls, and devices for Laboratory projects/equipment in the area of assignment, based on drawings, diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and as instructed.
  • Assists in construction and assembly of experimental and support equipment for area of assignment.
  • Prepares equipment for operation.
  • Assists in testing and calibration of equipment.
  • Performs preventive and routine maintenance of equipment, troubleshooting of problems, and repairs as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS

Must be skilled in safe use of hand tools and small power tools. Minor ability in shop tools such as drill press and small lathe and or Milling machine required. Must be able to work from heights and from platforms and lifts; be able to work 350 feet underground in lab experimental areas assisting installing experiments. Must be able to climb up and down stairs with tools into below-ground work areas, up to 50 feet deep.
