Description
This individual will be responsible for the setup, security, maintenance, capacity planning & optimization of a fledgling HDFS, NoSQL & MapReduce environment. Responsibilities are inclusive of the OS, network setup, and Hadoop core components, as well as, recommending and supporting the most appropriate data access and retrieval methods for specific use cases and projects.
Skills
Traditional RDBMS data modelling and SQL, HDFS file storage strategies, MapReduce Programming, and Key-Value pair/Columnar data stores, modelling and retrieval strategies. Linux systems engineering experience, Linux, HDFS, and Hadoop. MapReduce, Hive, HBase or Cassandra workload management & optimization tools.
Qualifications
Experience in deploying and administering Hadoop & MapReduce solutions. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Experience with system patching, management and backup strategies. Experience with HDFS, a RDMS such as Teradata and a NoSQL data store such as HBase or Cassandra is required. Experience with MapReduce, Sqoop, Flume, HCatalog and other Hadoop based tools is highly desired.
