Responsibilities
  • The Engineer will be responsible for an extensive array of highly technical activities with emphasis on specialized large-scale Node-B, RNC and MSN Data Translation engineering projects. A focus on both IP and ATM transport engineering to support wireless infrastructure will be the main objective. This includes but is not limited to: Ethernet to Cell (Gig-E) conversions, CISCO SIAD configuration, IUB over ATM growth, MSN rehome and Rebalances, new site builds, Node B and or RNC rehome and rebalances as it pertains to Iucs, Iups, Iub and Iur interface within the Radio Access Network.
  • May be responsible for contributing to the company's compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to job function as well as adherence to corporate ethics as it applies to all aspects of the company's code of business conduct.
  • In many cases the position requires the Engineer to create and document methods and procedures, work within larger project teams, and create and test configuration scripts prior to implementation.
SKILLS

Engineer must demonstrate knowledge of UTRAN and RAN topology, IP Networking fundamentals, transport hierarchy from DS1-OC3, and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) as defined for UMTS transmission. A strong IP background is a plus. Position will be considered as an advanced level Engineer, and candidate will be required to demonstrate strong technical proficiency on multiple wireless technologies including Ericsson, CISCO, Tellabs, ALU, 3G, 3.5G (HSDPA) and 4G platforms. Expert experience/knowledge/skills in the following required: Cisco IP Networking, WinFoil, Telnet, FTP, ProComm, and MS Office.
A team focused outlook as well as the ability to work independently with little direction is required, as the position requires performing complex transport design, data translations, transmission, equipment, and/or traffic engineering activities as part of a close connected team environment. Excellent written and verbal skills are a must in addition to the ability of functioning in a highly professional corporate environment.
Knowledge and expertise in the following desired: ALU UMTS, wireless telecom, script preparation & execution, and experience in a Sun Solaris & Unix environment.
