Role: Executive Board Secretary
Location: London

The post holder is responsible for providing corporate support and services to the Chairman and Managing Director, the Board, and the Executive Management Team, ensuring the organisation is compliant with its legal and statutory obligations. The post holder will act as a key liaison point between the Executive Directors, the Managing Director and Chairman, helping to maintain the smooth flow of information and decision making in the busy business environment of this NHS organisation. The post holder is responsible for ensuring the Board discharges its duties in a prompt and professional manner and conducts best practice in Corporate Governance.

Essential Skills include:
- Demonstrable knowledge of law and legal practice
- In-depth experience of ensuring Organisations are compliant with all Legal obligations
- In-depth and demonstrable experience in a comparable role
- Demonstrable experience in analysing complex/highly complex issues and situations which require judgement
- Influencing, negotiating and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrable record of achievement and ability to manage complex and sensitive issues
- In-depth experience of managing balanced budgets within a challenging financial environment
- Evidence of an innovative approach to developing effective, responsive and statutorily compliant administrative systems in a challenging public environment
- Proven experience of effectively managing staff
- Expert communication skills to communicate highly contentious and sensitive information - due to the legal nature will be faced with barriers to understanding
- Ability to present, interpret and explain clearly highly complex information to other senior managers
- Experience of corporate governance, preferably in a NHS Trust or public sector setting
- Well developed political awareness
- Proven knowledge of NHS governance requirements, rules and regulations and the ability to keep up to date with their on-going development
- Awareness of social, political, financial and business issues affecting the NHS
- Proven ability to step beyond the immediate demands of the role to support the achievement of the Trust's business objectives
- Ability to deal with Directors and senior managers in an authoritative and supportive manner
