Title: Sun System Engineer

Type: Contract- 6 months

Location: Atlanta, GA 30339

The systems engineer will be responsible for designing and developing solutions for infrastructure setup, configuration, automation and caching, primarily on the cloud. This requires an excellent understanding of sound application/infrastructure design, networking, application deployment and management, server provisioning and maintenance, and platform automation.

The systems engineer will work closely with data systems engineers/architects, performance/platform engineers and application developers/architects. The systems engineer will be responsible for the full deployment, infrastructure automation, and designing and developing tools and applications for code building, deployment and release management.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of experience with infrastructure management, linux administration, and networking services
  • Experience in managing applications running hot-hot across multiple locations
  • Experience in using puppet/chef to automate instance creation and configuration
  • Good understanding of non-relational data stores such as MongoDB, Riak, Redis and MemCached
  • 2+ years of experience in high volume public-facing web site environments
  • Experience with Puppet (or other similar tools) and experience with Jenkins (and/or other similar tools).
  • Experience with cloud compute (Google, AWS, Rackspace etc.)
  • Linux Administration experience (RedHat 6.x/CentOS 5.x & 6.x)
  • Experience with Puppet, and/or MCollective and/or Factor
  • Experience with configuration and management of CDN's (Akamai or level3)
  • Experience with designing and developing custom caching solutions
  • Experience with varnish or Squid or Memcached
  • Experience with building and deploying applications and release management
  • Good working knowledge with Scripting languages such as, Perl, Python or PHP
  • Experience with message queuing technologies (RabbitMQ)
  • Experience with NoSQL (Redis, Riak, MongoDB, Hadoop) would be a plus
  • Knowledge of creating RPMs for open source and CPAN modules a plus
  • Experience administering SAN, NAS storage and Netbackup a plus
