One of our clients, a multinational company in the pharmaceutical industry currently requires a Project Execution Manager

Start: 19/8/13
Length: 6 months + extension
Location: South of Brussels

Mission Purpose and Key Responsibilities:

The Project Execution Manager (PEM) is responsible for development and management of project plans that result in integrated delivery of the project at or above the established quality,

timeline and budget expectations in partnership with the VDL/DAPHead/PL.

He/She will ensure appropriate planning and tracking of timelines,budget, resources, risks and scope, recommending alternative strategiesto keep the project within thresholds or ensuring

escalation to appropriate governing bodies if necessary.

The Project Execution Manager will develop true partnerships with theVaccine Development Leader, DAP Head and/or the Project Leader.

He/She is also accountable for

- Providing data for regular portfolio reviews

- Proactively communicating key information of the project (egDecisions, milestones, actions, etc ) to all relevant stakeholders andto ensure documentation and archiving of project governance.

Accountability:

* primary deliverables of role; its scope; budgetary control (operating/capital), impact on strategy, policy, business or peoplerelationships

The PEM will, in partnership with the VDLs/DAP Heads/PLs and with appropriate support from VDT/PT members and departments:

- Develop, update and communicate robust and predictable project plansutilising project management best practice

- Develop and update required budgets and resources for execution ofproject in line with Development Strategy, ensure resource planning across all departments to deliver project plan

- Drive execution, coordinate and track progress of project schedule(s)against agreed milestones, costs and resources across departments (egCommercial, Clinical, Regulatory, R&D .)

- Proactively identify deviations from schedule/budget and any other issues, evaluate options and implement optimal solutions within adefined timeframe through appropriate interactions

with Project Team members and departmental PMs*

- Drive preparation for key decisions at appropriate governing bodiesand/or escalate to governing bodies as required

- Ensure identification of project risks and creation of risk registerfor the project with Project Team, manage the register on an ongoingbasis

- Ensure relevant and timely communication around projects to relevantstakeholders, ensure that project planning information isaccurate and up to date in corporate systems used to manage and reportprogress

- Actively contribute to preparation of portfolio reviews and providedata related to project as required

- Provide project management expertise and leadership that isconsistently applied with PTs (including identification of managementof critical path activities, timelines and associated budget), actively participate in initiatives around project management best practices andiPlan implementation and drive deployment of project management practises across PTs and departments.

Complexity:

* degree of change & uncertainty; level of influencing required;degree of Matrix working

* Highly complex and working across various Matrix departments

* Ability to understand strategic project management processes andtheir impact on individual projects and respective programme as awhole, as well as on the various functions

contributing to project milestones, and to integrate these intothe development of risk analysis and alternative proposals.

* Support monitoring of the overall project cost of VaccineDevelopment within defined acceptable variance thresholds

Specialised Knowledge:

* breadth & depth across disciplines or functions; expertise infield required; separate by basic and preferred

* University level, with appropriate PM methodology qualification oradequate PM experience (Life Sciences background would be beneficial)

* Understanding of the development phases of a vaccine (phases ofclinical development, regulatory requirements, )

* An aptitude for process management; Analytical, logical thought process with strong information organisation/management skills

* Understanding of project management software

* Effective time management, ability to clearly identify priorities andmanage multiple tasks

* Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, communication skills

* English skills
