Description
We’re 12 Spokes, full-service web and mobile development shop, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, with team members spanning the United States. We work with big clients and small startups, and we have a growing set of internal projects that we’re building, too. We are really awesome with Ruby on Rails, but it's not the only language we use; we believe in constant learning rather than sticking with one technology until it's a dinosaur. We’re expanding, and looking for a good person to join our great team. We support diversity in our field: Women and minorities are encouraged to apply!
Here are some great things about working for 12 Spokes:
We hate burnout, so we work a 35-hour weekYou’ll work on a wide variety of projects with pretty cool clientsWe telecommute 100%We offer awesome health insurance benefitsWe encourage using new technologies when they’re right for the project—Rails, Node, Backbone, whatever’s best. Our employees love working here.We take holidays, vacation days and R&R seriously. We work hard, and we reward you with well-deserved time off.Our developers shape the company, from the technologies we use to the processes we employ.
Some other things you should know about us:
We value good work. We want you to take the time to do things the right way, even if it’s not the easy way. We believe strongly in BDD and require that all code is adequately tested. We’re a small company—by choice. We’ve been around since 2006, but we’ve never gotten too big. Our small size means you’ll know everyone on the team and you’ll be personally treasured. We love our employees. We want you to keep learning. We encourage our employees to spend time “on the clock” staying up on the latest tech and trying new tools whenever appropriate. You’ll never be just a Rails monkey with us.We value your life outside your job. We set sensible working hours, and late nights are never a requirement (unless there’s a late deployment or some emergency, obviously, but those are very, very rare).
Here’s what we want from you:
You’re a generalist. Your primary skills are Ruby and Rails, but you also feel comfortable writing some mad javascript and take pride in your slick HTML and CSS. Node.js and mobile development skills are a plus. You like to build things, whether it’s the next great web application or a Mexican molé that hits ya just right. Most important, you love to do things the right way, even if it’s not the fastest way or the way that requires the least amount of work. You're a good communicator. You’ll be collaborating all day with clients and your coworkers via chat and Hangouts and email, so you’d better be able to string sentences together quickly and clearly! You’re self-directed and can work at home. Preferably, you’ve done it before. You’re nice. We are.
If this sounds like you, send us your resume, cover letter, github user, and salary requirements and let’s talk.
