The Purchasing function within Procurement provides a professional Purchasing service to every division of the Bank, and wider Group companies in the UK, and increasingly to the overseas subsidiaries of the bank, especially within EMEA.
The Sourcing Manager will work with the Commodity Sourcing Manager for their Commodity area and deal with all aspect of Purchasing in relation to the product range (identification of supplier, correct specification of the product as per user requirements, price negotiation, contract terms, ordering, maintenance/support contracts, inventory management and disposal). Assist in the management of the total life cycle of the given product/service and relationships both internal and external.
Many of the demands from business are time critical with very short notice to react requiring a fast response and disciplined approach to avoid risks (delay or a wrong answer may cost the bank substantial sums of money) so balanced judgement under pressure is essential.
The Sourcing Manager is required to possess a degree of expertise and market knowledge in their Commodity area and to provide advise and guidance on Purchasing related matters to internal customers including strategy and supplier management.
In conjunction with the Commodity Sourcing Manager drive the long term commercial strategy of a specific commodity(ies) enabling the bank to step change its savings delivery.
In conjunction with the Commodity Sourcing Manager create and agree Commodity strategy.
Ensure seamless supply of goods or service tothe bank and other areas of the Group
Engaging and influencing at management levels to support the delivery of the Commodity Strategies
To actively manage all aspects of the supplier lifecycle through strategy, business engagement, tender, negotiation and contract management, ensuring the best interests of the bank are served in managing the banks and other areas of the Group's Agreements.
Knowledge and Skills required:
Experience in Purchasing.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to enable effective communication at the most senior levels.
Be an experienced and effective negotiator.
Be able to maintain working relationships with supplier and colleagues at all levels.
Possess an understanding and working knowledge of commercial law.
Possess excellent analytical skills.
Possess business and commercial awareness.
