My client a prestigious hedge fund in London (City) is looking for a DBA - contractor to join their team for a rolling 6 month contract paying up to £500/day.Principal Accountabilities
* Oracle database work (including all documentation)
* All database related remediation and investigatory work
* Oracle 10g to 11g migration (recommend OS - Linux, Wintel)
* Testing (Oracle related)
* 11g tuning
* Testing (RAC / Dataguard and Performance related)
* Legacy Sminorervers/Environment Decommissioning
* Review current daily maintenance process / overnight stats build, index, etc, weekend jobs, UAT / DEV schemas build, etc - provide recommendation on optimization and improvement
* Review morning checks process for Oracle, automate where applicable and handover to IT Monitoring
* Assess current monitoring tools - Foglight, SCOM, etc
* Onboard 11G to SCOM, define KPIs, thresholds, documentation for IT Monitoring
* Documentation as per coming documentation standard, DR action plan, etc
* Review and update Oracle 11G internal standard where appropriate
* Investigate Oracle integration with Active Directory
* Onboard to CCS and document Oracle 11G global suppression
* Onboard to Imperva
Key Competencies & Qualifications
Required experience ORACLE:
- Expert knowledge of Oracle 10g/11g
- Expert knowledge of configuration and tuning Oracle
- Expert knowledge in PL/SQL-SQL programming (write complex and lengthy PL/SLQ-SQL queries and scripts), Stored Procedures, Triggers, User-Defined Functions, Cursors, Views etc
- Oracle Database Server and Database Administration
- Oracle Database experience on Windows platform (requirement)
- Practical Oracle RAC build experience; Demonstrate ability to build RAC for scratch
- Oracle RAC experience and advance knowledge on Windows (ideal) or on Linux (requirement for Oracle Rac experience)
- Experienced knowledge of Oracle tools like SQLPLUS, Enterprise Manager, sqlloader, data-pump
- Understanding of Query Execution Plans
- Advanced knowledge of MS Windows , x84/x64 and Linux
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle Data-guard Windows
Optional experience MS SQL:
- Senior DBA for 5 years at least in banking
- Expert knowledge of MS SQL
- Expert knowledge of configuration and tuning SQL Server 2005 over MS cluster
- Expert knowledge in T-SQL programming (write complex and lengthy T-SQL queries and scripts), Stored Procedures, Triggers, User-Defined Functions, Cursors, Views etc
- SQL Server 2005 Database Server and Database Administration
- Experienced knowledge of SQL Server 2005 tools like SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Profiler, SQL Server Agent, SQL Server Surface Area Configuration, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, BCP and Bulk Load
- Experience in MS SQL 2005 and Database Activities Like Monitoring of Database, Performance Monitoring, Backup & Recovery, Database Creation, Database Security, User Management, Export/Import, Patch management and Data Migration
- SQL Server Integration Services
- Understanding of query execution plans
- Various XML features in SQL Server 2005 including knowledge of XPath and XQuery
- Experienced in export/import data techniques
- Advanced knowledge of MS Windows , x84/x64
- Advanced knowledge of MS technologies (Active directory, Clustering, COM/DCOM/IIS/MS MQ/etc)
