Questions on Senior Procurement Commodity Specialist role:
Q1) What is the commodity area in question?
A1)Category is "Banking Operations". Think 'core banking' and 'outsourced services' (not IT services however). The elements currently under this umbrella are:
- Cash handling
- Cheque processing
- Courier and logistics (domestic, international, mail room, express, other)
- Document management (scanning, storage/archive, destruction)
- Transactional printing (statements, customer correspondence)
- Postage
Q2) What is the spend level of the commodity that this individual will be dealing with?
A2) The global spend level is approximately $1bn USD, and this role will be part of a global team with various degrees of that spend. Assume approx. $100m USD
Q3) How has the role come about?
A3) The person who used to do a similar role for the UK bank has been promoted into the global procurement function, and this vacancy has resulted. Further, this vacancy is new to the 'global function' of Banking Operations which has previously only been country specific.
Q4) Who does the role report to?
A4) The role reports to me, Global Category Manager - Banking Operations, I report into the global head of Non-IT Procurement who reports directly to the CPO.
Q7) Is the remit for EMEA?
A7) A significant portion of the remit is "UK" to support the UK business but as part of a global team that supports procurement activities on a global scale. The role holder will likely have to participate in and/or lead global procurement activities on a global basis, in addition to being the primary procurement lead for this category in the UK.
Q8) Are you focused on Financial Services experience, or would you consider candidates with outsourcing experience but not financial services?
A8) Financial services is an advantage, particularly if they have procured/managed outsourced services within a financial services context. I would consider others with.services* outsourcing experience.
