An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Operational Risk Manager to come on to work for a reputable financial client based in their prestigious location Kings wood, Surrey.

Title: Operational Risk Manager
Location: Kings wood, Surrey
Rates: Competitive
Duration: 3 months initially

Job Role:
To manage and develop the risk framework that will identify, quantify and monitor risks associated with mortgage lending processes and practices and mitigate fraud. To positively contribute to the overall performance of the business, whilst meeting all best practice, regulatory and statutory requirements.

Essential Skills:
*Strong understanding of the Operational Risk function related to secured lending products, including credit initiation, account management and collections and recoveries

*Able to demonstrate strong intellect as well as the ability to communicate at all levels, drive change, implement systems and sell recommendations to a senior cross-functional audience

KNOWLEDGE

*A strong track record of success, and extensive expertise of Operational Risk Management

*A progressive track record of success, including leadership within a fast moving forward thinking and customer led organisation

*Able to demonstrate a strong knowledge of risk management principles

Accountabilities:
*Development and maintenance of the Quality Assurance programme, taking consideration of key risk exposures

*Preparation of monthly Quality Assurance report to Risk Committee and wider business as necessary, identifying any key areas of concern and providing recommendations for remedial action

*To assist in the set up and maintenance of fraud preventions mechanisms (Hunter/Detect/Call Credit Bank Validation/Electronic identification) - both paper and electronic

*Regular meetings to be held with 3rd party suppliers to ensure that service, product effectiveness and relationships are maintained

*Set up and maintenance of mandate control programme including application of personal override mandate where necessary

*Maintenance and authorising of the Responsible Lending Policy, Porting Policy, Transfer of Equity Policy, Further Advance Policy and Arrears Collection Policy, to ensure that policies reflect amongst other things:
oGeneral market conditions and competitor activity/intelligence
oData protection and other governing Regulator legislation
oAny specific geographic considerations
oAny exit strategy/business partner considerations

*Ensuring that procedural documentation is in place for all activities undertaken within the Operational Risk area

*Responsibility for property risk decisions building into the Property section of the Responsible Lending Policy

*Maintenance of the Surveying Panel Valuation arrangement ensuring a robust framework is in place to identify, quantify and monitor valuation risks, including for example:
oProperty valuation performance
oArea demographics
oConcentration risks
oKnown credit risk/fraud profiles

*Reviewing new product development opportunities in support of the business and providing recommendations as appropriate

*To champion the fair treatment of customers by ensuring you understand the principles of TCF, how to apply these to your role and ensure they are both embraced and Embedded in your day to day role and that of your department.

*To attend and contribute to Risk and other Committees as appropriate from time to time, providing strategic direction where relevant.

*To ensure regular, transparent communication and liaison is in place with all functions.
