Finance Technician (VAT/Tax) - urgent position!
July - December 2013
Salary Range: £19,000 - £27,000 pa pro rota
A market leading company is looking for an experienced Finance Technician with demonstrable experience of VAT returns/Tax to ensure that accounts payable, indirect tax and Treasury functions for the company are accurately and efficiently maintained. This is an urgent role and the hiring manager is keen to conduct interviews immediately.
Essential skills:-
- Good general accounting background and an understanding of an integrated MIS system
- Excel
- Good Communication Skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Good eye for detail
- Able to work on own initiative and as well as part of a team
- Ability to meet deadlines
The successful candidate will report directly to the Finance Manager and will:-
- Process all supplier invoices ensuring that the appropriate support documentation (GRN's and purchase orders) are accounted for.
- Ensure that all Utility/Freight and non UK supplier accounts payable invoices are accurately and efficiently processed.
- Generate payment runs to settle outstanding purchase invoices.
- Reconcile supplier statements.
- Generate purchase ledger accruals each month
- To liaise with suppliers and other departments with enquiries related to the accounts payable ledger.
- Review age creditor monthly and rectify any issues in a timely manner
- To assist as required with Indirect tax calculations (notably VAT) and make returns to HMRC as appropriate
- To compile as necessary returns
- To compile data for treasury management reporting and assist/make submissions
- To provide support for the Treasury function
- Work with the Finance Manager to maintain system procedures
