Description
A major investment bank in Midtown NYC is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Support person with at least five years of experience to join their team.This role is with a manager I am very close with and I will certainly be able to influence the process, get direct feedback, and give you a very good chance at getting the role if I choose to put you forward.
First and foremost this individual must be technologically strong, but a strong business knowledge is a big plus as you will be coordinating with the business side on a daily basis: Investigating problems, coming up with solutions, and coordinating with the necessary people needed to solve the issue.
Finance experience, especially within Fixed Income, is a huge plus.
Main Responsibilities Include:
* Working with local infrastructure teams to deliver evolutions of the electronic markets platforms
* Delivery of New York components of Global electronic markets infrastructure projects
* Responsible for ensuring proper monitoring and capacity planning of local systems as a part of the global framework
* Installation and configuration of application software and layered products
Qualifications/Qualities:
* Strong skills in production management of Wintel server platforms (E.g. Ability to determine the cause of a blue screen crash on an NT server by examining memory dumps.)
* Appreciation and exposure to application server technologies (E.g. Database servers, Microsoft .NET framework, Apache Web Servers, WebShpere Application servers)
* Strong knowledge of networks and associated middleware technologies such as RV(E.g. Ability to understand causes of multicast storms and configure Rendez-vous systems)
* Strong knowledge of Unix platform administration, particularly Redhat Linux (2 Years +) (E.g. Proven record of System Manager responsibilities of Solaris or Linux etc.)
* Sound understanding of Unix server operation (Linux and Solaris) (E.g. ability to configure and manage the systems services and disks, with a particular focus on Apache)
* Exposure to a real time trading system (E.g. Trading Technologies, Broadway Technology, ION trading)
This will be a 9+ month contract that will have the opportunity to be extended, or possibly turn full time - based on performance. He would want it to be full time from the start, but he only has the head-count for a contractor.
Rate will be based on experience, but they are looking to pay for a senior consultant.
