We are seeking SAN Administrator for a 3 month contract role in Atlanta, GA.
The SAN Administrator is a member of the Information Technology Group responsible for supporting existing storage-related systems and technologies, and implementing strategic solutions to stated business challenges focusing on the Enterprise Storage infrastructure. Position requires testing, and evaluation of new hardware and software that improve and enhance our Enterprise Storage Infrastructure reliability, availability and serviceability. This individual will collaborate with both internal and external partners to ensure that technology decisions fit within the overall architecture. Day to day activities include storage provisioning, performance tuning, adding volumes, Scripting for automation of tasks, assigning ports, error tracking, data movement, product evaluation, message delivery system and addressing compatibility issues.
Skills:
- Ideal candidate has SAN exposure and experience, with a minimum of 2 years experience in successful deployment of SAN technology solutions.
- Proven history of deploying projects with accurate estimates of time frames, resource requirements, and costs.
- Ability to communicate well with user groups, technical organizations, and management teams utilizing strong presentation skills combined with a solid technical background.
- Ideal candidate will have strong understanding of RAID concepts.
- Knowledge of various network protocols, topologies, Databases and heterogeneous operating systems including Linux and Windows.
- Ability to articulate existing architecture to technical and business audiences.
- Appropriate storage certifications (Hitachi, EMC, Brocade, SNIA, etc.) are desirable.
- Ability to conduct SAN assurance assessment as required.
- Able to work as a team player in a collaborative environment.
- 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
Responsibilities:
- Implements hardware/software solutions that enhance or extend the enterprise SAN, Storage, and Backup Infrastructures.
- Develop and produce capacity and performance management reports and associated recommendations.
- Provide technical assistance to other MIS groups.
- Implement the release schedule ensuring that all hardware and software in the SAN, Storage, and Backup infrastructures are on current versions and patch levels.
- Review and update standard configurations and procedures based on best practices.
- Evaluate implementation of network/systems management software for potential areas of improvement.
- Implement high-availability solutions to maximize application uptime and reduce unplanned outages.
- As specifications are developed and agreed upon, provide deployment support for new system implementations.
- Assist the Storage Architect with standards and instructions when necessary.
