Computer Futures are looking for a Support Technician to join a large client based in Southampton. This role will place you within the IT Provisioning Team. And is an ideal position for someone looking to develop their career in IT.The team provides a service to IT Agile Development Projects that are vital to the success of the company. The team builds the development, test and production environments that will support future services, wider business and external customers of the organisation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with the potential to work confidently at the Command Line level (executing operating systems scripts, checking that the results are as expected and creating virtual machines). Importantly you must have a thirst for learning and to be flexible and willing to perform a wide variety of IT Infrastructure activities.
We are always striving to improve the quality of what we do, and as part of your job you will be expected to identify improvements either to services or processes to enhance our customer experience.
Essential Criteria
* Basic skills and knowledge of IT beyond that of an end user. This may be in terms of experience at the Command Line in any operating system, database or middleware technology.
* Track record of prioritising tasks and delivering to deadlines.
* Changing and Improving - open to change, suggesting ideas for improvement to the ways things are done and working in smarter, more focused ways.
* Collaborating and Partnering - creating and maintaining professional and trusted working relationships with a wide range of people; sharing information and having the confidence to challenge.
* Managing a Quality Service - plan and organise your time to deliver a high quality customer experience.
Desirable Criteria
* Basic working knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows operating system, VMware/ESX, middleware technologies
* Basic understanding of the fundamentals of databases
* Basic skills within any scripting language such PowerShell, Unix shell
