My client is looking for a System Quality Engineer on an initial 6 month contract .

You will be required to fill a role on a team assembled to design and test a control system for a patient positioning couch. Responsible for testing software control programs, electrical interfaces and mechanical robotic motions specific to customer and project requirements. This position requires close collaboration with Hardware, Software and other System Quality Engineers. Understanding of HW/SW interactions and being able to perform onsite troubleshooting. The System Quality Engineer is responsible for generating functional tests from published requirements, writing documentation and participating in peer reviews.

Perform formal Verification & Validation in accordance with the Quality System on products produced determine that they meet requirements and intended use.
Generate Use cases/Test cases from relevant Product/System requirements in collaboration with the development engineers.
Produce Test Logs, Traceability Matrices and Test Reports.
To document and classify all known discrepancies found.

This role will require international travel, including US and Canada (multiple trips, each of up to 3 week duration). Shift testing may also be required when testing on site as part of a team as the test facility may only be available out of normal working hours.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering specialising in electrical controls, mechanics and robotics or software engineering.
A minimum of a BSc or BEng degree, or similar is preferred.

The candidate will need to have an understanding of robotics and control systems and will have a minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience of testing as a controls engineer for complex systems within industry. Any exposure to the medical device, and/or pharmaceutical industries is highly favourable.

Knowledge of how to perform formal testing according to a methodology (for example ISEB). This will be applied to hardware, software and documentation.

The System Quality Engineer should have proficiency with the following environments; robotic controllers, automation and software controlled systems. Development is within the Beckhoff TwinCat and Ethercat environments so knowledge of these would be a significant advantage. HP Quality Center experience would be useful.
