Responsibilities
  • Properly coordinates and manages sourcing process on behalf of assigned business unit customers: understands sourcing needs (ranges from single engagements to functional line strategic sourcing engagements), identifies and brokers a range of execution options, analyzes competitive bids, drives performance based relationship, develop and participate in vendor governance, if appropriate.
  • Project feasibility, external market place expertise, cost estimates, and modelling options for outsourced work for functional lines in order to facilitate decision making of optimal high value strategy at a global and local level.
  • Build and nurture positive relationship with assigned customers and stakeholders to ensure understanding of the outsourcing and contracting process (including due diligence activities), external providers, and the contracting environment.
  • Communication and education of endorsed sourcing strategies across relevant company customers and stakeholders.
  • Provides pro-active leadership and develops periodic vendor performance reports for relevant customers, stakeholders, partners and Sourcing Management Group leadership. Highlights major performance issues across vendors to customers and relevant Sourcing Management colleagues.
  • Establish and implement supplier governance for assigned strategic providers to review performance and address major issues impacting business (ie, issue management, escalation and resolution).
  • Supports vendor negotiations of any standard contract language and proposed changes to minimize business risk (eg helps quantify and quality business risks and translate to customer).
  • In collaboration with customer, works with Procurement to direct preparation of documents in connection with outsourcing of services for their responsible site such as: Request for Proposals, Master Service Agreements, Statement of Works (with performance based payment schedules), Amendments, and other similar documents.
  • Implement global tools at a local level to best support and improve outsourcing management and supplier and site management practices.
  • Consolidates vendor data across platform lines for global Vendor Intelligence database to include information on existing and emerging vendor capabilities (including validated performance metrics) geographic location and capacity.
  • Leads global competitive intelligence for CROs' and pharma sourcing models, benchmarking operating models, comprehensive understanding of CRO industry to summarize overall trends and implications for use of vendors across major categories.
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of legal concepts and principles as they relate to: Confidentiality, Service, and Consulting agreements.
  • Proactively identifies operational process issues and collaborates with the Sourcing Management group to develop process solutions.
  • Assists Sourcing Management Head with customer relations and management of customer issues.
SKILLS

A scientific or technical degree is preferred. An MBA or advanced degree is highly desirable.

In general, candidates for this job would have the following levels of education/experience:
  • BS and extended industry experience
  • MS or MBA and industry experience

    Prior Experience Preferred:
  • Safety, Regulatory or Clinical development and business experience in order to have a thorough understanding of the processes associated with operational aspects
  • Extensive experience in contracts and outsourcing
  • Knowledge of project budgeting and understanding of project resource needs, ability to translate project requirements into effective contracts
  • Excellent analytical and financial skills
  • Demonstrated effective influencing and negotiating, good interpersonal, leadership, and team player skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills. Good MS Office skills are a major plus.
