Sub-Contract Manager
Actively working within the Product Technology Group & Praetorian, the role at this level will support programmes of work within the Procurement function and will increasingly involve cross functional activity. Work content will require minimal supervision and will in the main be more complex in nature.
Cost avoidance, quality, innovation, continuity of supply, time to market, collaboration, risk an opportunity exploitation are all key parameters to develop product and business winning differentiators.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
- A good understanding and working knowledge of the Procurement Lifecycle
- Requires appropriate training to degree level or equivalent or significant relevant work experience. (MCIPS preferred)
- The ability to procure in-tangible services linked to training, and support services
- The ability to procure in-tangible services linked to software and managing the associated software licensing agreements
- Relationship building skills with cross-functional colleagues, customers and suppliers including excellent negotiation skills
- To have operated within a Commercial role requiring robust technical knowledge within the Defence/Aerospace industry
- A good understanding of the Legal Aspects associated with contracting within the Defence/Aerospace industry
- A good understanding of Export Compliance associated with contracting within the Defence/Aerospace industry
Intrinsic Job Factors
Although predominately office based, the role may require some travel to different Selex ES and supplier facilities - with occasional overnight stays.
Key responsibility areas
- Cross disciplined evaluation, selection and development of suppliers - leading local Make/Buys decisions when require
- Drive and lead the generation and review of 'appropriate' specifications and Statement of Work
- Early involvement in product technology requirements with influence to cost, availability, exportability, manufacturability etc.
- Lead the delivery of sub-contract management and other procurement-related services as may be required to support Electronic Warfare Operational Support (EWOS) and BattleSpace Business Group
- Ensure the timely delivery of hardware to support the Praetorian programme
