Position Responsibilities/Duties:

The MQ Administrator will be responsible for the administration of the bank’s MQ support running on the Linux, AIX and Windows  operating systems.  The candidate in this role will be responsible for MQ administration, apply MQ fix packs, investigation and troubleshooting of MQ issues, and to provide support to application managers and developers.

  • Work individually or in a team on various system projects related to UNIX and Linux and provide MQ Support for applications teams on these platforms.
  • Assess and identify appropriate changes and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Plan, prepare, test and apply maintenance fixes provided by the application vendors
  • Develop test plans for implementing new software or new releases of the software.
  • Assist application developers with high level problem program debugging and correction
  • Provide system support including off shift on call support as and when required.
  • Enhance staff skill levels by cross training

Experience/Knowledge Requirements:

  • 6+ years experience supporting and administering MQ Applications (MQ 7.0, 7.1 & 7.5) on UNIX and Windows environments.
  • 3+ years of MQFTE support and Administration.
  • 3+ years of Message Broker support and Administration.
  • Experience in installing and configuring MQ/MQFTE/WMB
  • Experience in applying MQ/MQFTE/WMB fix packs
  • Experience in configuraing multi-instance Queue Managers and Brokers.
  • Experience in setting up MQ SSL.
  • Experience with MQ security exits, message exits and channel authentication records.
  • Certification or Training in WebSphere MQ is Plus

Experience & Knowledge Requirements:

  • 3+ years of AIX on pSeries experience
  • 2+ years of Linux experience (RedHat/SuSE)
  • 2+ years of Perl experience
  • 2+ years of korn shell experience
  • Oracle SQL and Toad experience is Plus
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Team building skills, positive attitude, detail oriented, self motivated and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
