Senior SQL Server Database Developer contract opportunity within this Digital Media Technology start-up growing at an impressive pace (from 2-37 in 2.5 years). You will take ownership of a major database improvement project and help manage an increasingly complicated Database environment currently growing by over 10 million records per day.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Work on SQL Server 2008 R2 database: growing by over 10M records per day
- Investigate and recommend/implement solutions to performance issues such as slow queries, indexes fragmentation/management, table partitioning, database IO, memory considerations, file management, Insert Performance, Locking/Deadlocks
- Work with the team on database architecture, Database Management Tasks
- Design, write, test and debug stored procedures, views, udfs, triggers, indexes etc
- Constantly work on expanding their knowledge of databases design/management/development
- Take ownership of the database engineering
- Configure monitoring and monitor ongoing the database systems
- Assist with migration to Amazon Web Services - AWS
- Assist with choice and adoption of Big Data NoSQL Implementations (Hadoop etc) and other better ways to manage and analyse huge volumes of data captured
Desired Experience:
- SQL Server 2008 R2 Clustered Database Environment
- SQL Server 2012 (new features such as Always On - Availability Groups)
- Big Data environments/tools (Hadoop etc.)
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)/Migration to Amazon Platform
- Online Media/Advertising
- Pay per click solutions
- Performance based Advertising
- Online customer acquisition or lead generation solutions
