The Company

Our client is one of Australia's leading and largest Financial Services Organizations that has expanded its operations beyond the Australian shores. The organization has a large range of financial offerings to both public and private clients across the retail, corporate and institutional banking areas. They have a very large technical footprint that combines a dynamic range of technologies in an ultimately complex landscape. Due to the expanding remit of this team's service offering to the bank they require a Senior SAP professional with an appreciation of System Performance, Resilience, High Availability and Capacity in large and complex environments.

The Team

The performance team has a very large remit, to evaluate and improve bank wide systems with a focus on system high availability, performance, capacity and reliability. This team has been organically grown over the last 3 years and now, due to their excellent success record of improvements, they have been given a wider remit and larger projects. This senior role will be closely aligned to the Projects sub-team and will be responsible for assessing and analysing all project initiatives (change) in the pipeline across the bank along with increases in Capacity needs (Demand Management) and how the SAP solution in place may be affected.

The Role

This role is essentially to take the Technical Lead in all things SAP within this performance team. Your specific expertise within the SAP realm could vary in that you could be a NetWeaver Consultant/Architect or be more Basis aligned (both ideally) but you will have an in-depth understanding of the various Performance, Availability and Capacity requirements a large complex and evolving environment will place on an SAP solution. You'll be comfortable triaging issues and with problem management (Operations), have experience managing venders and SAP implementation experience is highly regarded. You'll be involved in the planning and design phases of any project initiatives across the bank that will impact the SAP solution and as the SME you'll guide and advise other teams (Developers, Operations, Architects) to ensure the right decisions are made and directions are taken before anything is initiated.

Skills required:

  • Expertise in SAP (NetWeaver, Basis) Technical Consultancy/Architecture (essential).
  • Experience with very large, complex SAP solutions (essential).
  • Expertise across: System Performance, Resilience, High Availability and Capacity (Demand Management) as it relates to an SAP solution (essential).
  • A Strong Holistic Technical Background spanning a multiple disciplines eg Development, Networks, Infrastructure (Servers, Databases) and an understanding of how they all relate.
  • Experience with Problem Management/Triaging issues (Operations background).
  • Experience interacting with and managing multiple vendors.
  • SAP implementation experience (highly regarded).
  • Experience contributing to the design of robust solutions to future-proof complex technology systems.
  • Experience evaluating and analysing large enterprise wide project initiatives and systems across multiple technologies and business units.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; a passion and drive for technical excellence.
