Position: Obsolescence Engineer
Job type: Contract (6 months initially)

Location: Portsmouth easily commutable from Southampton, Hampshire, Reading and with excellent access from South Coast
Salary: £26.57 per hour LTD
Outsource UK Ltd are actively seeking to recruit a Obsolescence Engineer for a contract role on behalf of a client.
The Client:
A leading Engineering and Defence organisation
As the Obsolescence Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:
Resolving issues or task suppliers to resolve outstanding obsolescence occurrences.
Carry out technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of obsolescence.
Maintaining the Obsolescence system and Database.
Proactive Obsolescence management of all Platform Systems
Project manage all Obsolescence change through the Engineering Change Board Process.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
Ideally, you will be degree or HNC/HND qualified, or equivalent, in a technology, engineering or science related discipline.
Possesses good knowledge of obsolescence management theory
Appreciation of the overall support solution and engineering requirements including change management and in-service implementation and Acceptance requirements including Product Safety and Quality Control;
Appreciation of the Processes and skills required for the Obsolescence Management of a modern warship from a Support aspect and the impact to any programme that this may have;
Appreciation of the processes and tools for Project Management and Controls;
Have knowledge of MoD processes in the Design Support arena
Excellent IT skills particularly MS Project and MS PowerPoint and other MS Applications;
