Description:The successful Mechanical Engineering candidate will have experience and/or a strong aptitude backed by education for the following:
Component design for machined,· injection molded, and/or die cast parts.
Mechanical design using material· sciences, electromechanical skills, and stress/strain sciences.
· Specification development based on a blend marketing and ROI needs.
Testing· and analysis utilizing lab instrumentation & statistical practices.
3D· solid modeling and drafting using SolidWorks.
Troubleshooting and· sustaining support.
The successful candidate will join a fast paced engineering group that is primarily designated as an Innovation Center but also cross functionally provides support to existing products.
The person will work directly under a Principal Mechanical Engineer and will be responsible for sub-system designs including evaluations and recommendations aimed at project goals that could be any combination of performance, schedule, and/or cost targets.
The successful candidate for this position must be a self-starter and be driven by a high degree of personal motivation, initiative, intellectual curiosity, and solid communication skills.
Requirements:
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Communicate with internal and external engineering· teams of various disciplines to accurately identify issues, review designs/test results, and participate in planning.
Provide SolidWorks CAD support.·
· Provide DFMA guidance.
Provide first article inspection support for· Innovation projects.
Perform sustaining tasks as needed.·
Perform· laboratory testing.
Create engineering documentation.·
Work with· manufacturing engineering to develop new test fixtures and test concepts.
· Statistical analysis.
Experience Requirements
Two to five years of· mechanical engineering experience.
Medical device and/or DOD experience is· a plus.
· >1000 hours SolidWorks CAD experience.
· >1000 hours mechanical support such as machine shop, mold shop, machine maintenance, or anything else that demonstrates creative problem solving skills in a hands-on environment.
Ability to develop feasible designs and rough sketches from· concepts with minimal supervision.
Experience with design to cost and high· volume manufacturing concepts.
Wire harness and molded cable assembly· design experience.
Strong design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA)· skills.
