My Southampton based client is looking for a Media Coordinator/Press Officer/External Relations Coordinator for an initial 3 month contract.

Skills required: Press, media, journalism, relations.

The role:
* Responsible for maintaining and developing media relations with key journalists;
* Responsible for responding to incoming media enquiries using the media handling system in accordance with the agency's protocol;
* Responsible for identifying the need for proactive handling planning, developing and delivering key lines to take and dissemination if these key lines to media contacts;
* Creating press releases in accordance with the writing guidelines;
* Responsible for identifying proactive media opportunities and documentary filming opportunities;
* Advises on social media monitoring reports;
* Contributes to forward planning grid.
* The post holder will be part of the 24/7 on call duty rota, responding to out of hours enquiries and maritime incidents.

Skills and experience required for Media Coordinator/Press Officer/External Relations Coordinator:
* Proven knowledge of traditional media and social media
* Excellent writing skills
* Social media
