Position Overview:

As a Software Services Engineer – Level 2, you will be responsible for working with a Global IT team. This is the ideal role for an IT support professional with experience of working on the associated technologies including: Microsoft Exchange 2007, BES, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WINS, Xenapp (5&6), Citrix and NetBackup, as well as database administration and mobile communications software, seeking a new challenge. Engaging with customers, you will ensure that support queries are answered in a timely and effective manner and a first class level of service is provided at all times. You will ensure that server administration, data base administration, back-up and disaster recovery strategies are in place for all customer and internal systems.

Specific Responsibilities and skills for Position:

  • Working with Level 1 Support engineers when required
  • Manage, prioritise and coordinate all preventative and remedial maintenance and updates for System software using an agreed to installation migration policy, i.e. emergency patches, software updates and firmware loads
  • Assist in assigning activities to be completed during a maintenance window
  • Assist in developing and implementing a process, with accompanying tools and monitors, to provide an increased level of oversight and responsiveness for the Services supporting the infrastructure environment components
  • Reallocate resources on-demand as requested by management for the infrastructure environment
  • Remotely distribute software electronically and automate where possible
  • Test and publish the results of testing, the remote loading (Jump Start Procedure) test of each master image
  • Execute the Jump Start Procedure as requested by management.  Accompany each execution of the Jump Start Procedure with an asset report that includes deployment plan, destination devices, software licensing impacts and contact information.
  • Working closely with management and colleagues to ensure that all phases of support, including installations, upgrades, software, hardware, operating systems and configuration issues are properly coordinated, monitored, tracked, resolved and managed under change management processes
  • Maintains Security and Compliance of IT systems
  • Accountable for day-to-day progress against agreed deadlines, towards business objectives.
  • Works on specific projects under direction from management and in conjunction with Technology Strategy
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, assistance and development to colleagues on cross training and technical development of staff
  • May be required to travel to other sites domestically and internationally.
  • Must be quality orientated and ensure all work streams are aligned with company and IT compliance standards
  • Work cross-functionally as a key contributor to the overall success of a global dynamic IT function to effectively guide projects from concept to deployment.  Manage the planning, development, design, validation and implementation of assigned projects, including scope, work breakdown, schedules, budget and delivery

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • 3-5 years general system administration experience
  • Microsoft MCSE certification highly desired
  • Min. 3 years Windows Server configuration/administration
  • Min. 2 years Microsoft Exchange 2 years Site-Scope and SCOM
  • Min 2 years XenApp 5 & 6, Symantec E-Vault
  • Prior experience in working and interacting in a professional engineering environment both internal and external
