Description
Location: SalfordRate: £20-£22 per hour
Duration: 6 months, 37.5 hours per week
I urgently need a software test engineer who is available for interview next Tuesday or Wednesday.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Perform software & system testing against technical specifications working within the company's quality processes.
* Specification, design and implementation of automated test hardware and software solutions.
* Design, execution and maintenance of formal test protocols, unit tests and test scripts.
* Development of Test Specifications from formal Functional Specification documents or through liaison with Engineers, seeking clarification as and where necessary.
* Improve Time to Market through test automation and process improvements.
* Responsible for ensuring that software releases are subject to adequate scrutiny and in accordance with the company's quality processes.
* Investigate, analyse and document reported defects.
* Maintain watching brief on applicable or allied technologies, techniques and methodologies.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
* Travel as individual projects necessitate (minimal).
* Ensure that he/she carries out his/her duties in accordance with all Company policies, procedures and processes.
Essential
* Proven experience testing embedded software applications
* HND/Degree qualified in an IT, software or electronics related discipline
* Experienced in Software test script design.
* Capable of the design and implementation of automated test harnesses with either commercially available tools or home grown solutions
* Have experience of writing software (in any high-level language format)
* Experience of the complete product development lifecycle preferably within a multidisciplinary team and in an environment using recognised development methodologies
* Ability to identify, implement and execute software test processes
* Self-Motivated
* Inquisitive and dogged persistence towards identifying faults
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
* Keen to learn new skills, tools & techniques.
* Demonstrate a high degree of integrity and commitment
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
* Willingness to travel if required (infrequent)
Desirable
Software Testing qualifications at Practitioner level
* Have experience of writing C# Unit Tests
* Have a working knowledge of C# / .Net
* Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS)
* Experience of Fieldbus Automation technologies
* Capable of designing simple applications to stress or soak software or interfaces.
* LabVIEW modelling
* Have experience of testing devices that reside on Ethernet networks including configuration and problem resolution
