Proteus Europe operating as an employment business, is currently seeking Operations engineer for a newly formed DevOps team with our financial client in the Netherlands.

You will work in a DevOps team composed of Development and Operations Engineers and report to the Ops Manager. You transport the applications to a production environment and monitors the application is available and functioning properly.

The Ops Engineer, this means:

  • building, testing and performing deployment scripts for different environments and deploy the applications in Java WebSphere
  • the build, test and run batch scripts and monitoring;
  • Conducting of the various management activities (including resolving incidents, planning LCM on applications and platforms and administer and validate user access to applications)
  • The performance testing and tuning the applications.

General knowledge/experience:

  • HBO/WO working and thinking, with an IT background; ITIL foundation.

Technical knowledge/experience:

  • Unix, AIX, Linux (redhat) and Shell Scripting
  • IBM WebSphere and Tomcat 7 (management and configuration, performance testing and tuning Web applications and deployment Scripting)
  • Oracle (management, and SQL tuning)
  • Bash Scripting Deployment automation (Scripting and Nolio)
  • Continuous Delivery Agile Scrum.

Content description:

1. Testing

  • Building, testing and implementation of performance testing and production acceptance testing. The performance and production acceptance test is the final check for the custom software goes to the production platform.

2. Building

  • deploy, test and perform deployment (scripts); also deployment process should take place as much as possible automated.
  • Infrastructure. In disorders you can react quickly to get with minimal loss of service to users. Applications back in the air
  • Build, test and perform batch (scripts).

3. Operate

  • Resolving incidents and create user stories in response to structural incidents occurred from each incident is analyzed by the Ops engineer what the root cause was and adopt measures to prevent recurrence.
  • The administration and performing audit and verification of application components in the production configuration database (CMDB)
  • Monitor and manage system tables, batch processes and application Firewalls;
  • Audit and verification of assigned user access to applications and administration; A good user access process is to ensure that no unauthorized access is possible to the personal or sensitive data. If you deposit Ops engineer through verification that the process is followed properly.
  • A secondary data center location to be in case there are problems with the primary data center. Optimally prepared

4. Scrum process

  • Participate in planning and estimation process;
  • Drafting User Stories in response to incidents;
  • Breakdown User Stories into tasks;
  • Participate in Sprint demos;
  • Participate in Stand-Ups;
  • Participate in Retrospectives;
  • Marking impediments;
  • initiate process improvements;
  • Grooming of productbacklog.

5. Teamwork

  • Coaching and giving feedback to team members;
