We are seeking a Perl Developer for 4 months contract position in Atlanta, GA.
Sr. Software Engineer who has strong development experience in Perl. Good knowledge of Java is required too since you will be developing Back End applications in Perl and Java, but prefer strong experience Perl.
Skills :
Six (6) or more years of commercial software development, proficient in developing multi-tier solutions. Minimum 4 years of professional Perl development experience.
MUST possess a BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
Strong SQL skills with considerable experience in at least one of: Oracle or SQL Server.
Strong with OO design and development.
Strong algorithm design and data structures, good math background.
Self starter with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt quickly to changes.
Must demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written), good interpersonal skills, and ability to gather and understand requirements.
Ability to install, administer Linux packages, including from source. Extensive experience in command line Unix/Linux environments
Experience writing code in a high volume Service Oriented Architectures (SOA)
Must have played a leading role in the design, implementation, and deployment of a successful enterprise-level software applications
Ensure the integrity of all application systems and support operations as needed.
Analyze and resolve tickets that are opened by business users.
Will perform design and code reviews to notify and correct any issues where possible across supported products prior to implementation.
Candidate should have experience/familiarity with:
Linux or equivalent UNIX system
Oracle 10g or later
Proficient in the following development languages: Perl, PL/SQL, BASH.
XML, XSLT, OO Perl, IPC, threads based Perl applications, managing shared memory, making remote connections, ETL, extensive database and data manipulation experience, regular expressions, SMTP, SOAP, and web services.
Responsibilities :
The Software Engineer will create, maintain, and support Perl and/or Java applications as well as lead or participate in enhancements to those applications. The engineer will perform analysis and develop requirements for both enhancements as well as new product designs. The engineer will also provide support to implementations within a RedHat Linux environment. Support will include, but not be limited to, fixing identified defects and making limited changes to support new customer requirements.
You will be responsible for full life cycle application development designing, coding and debugging applications in various software languages (primarily Perl). Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis, Object-oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD), maintain and document software functionality, integrate software with existing systems, and evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation where required.
Responsible for the analysis, design, programming, debugging and modification of local, network or Internet-related computer programs for commercial or end user applications such as materials management, financial management, HRIS or desktop applications products. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications using current programming language and technologies. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interface with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
