Description

The client is one of the UK's leading renewable energy developers and operators along the coasts of several European countries. The Safety Engineer will be the key instrument to ensure that Client side and contractor designs are demonstrably ALARP and in line with project's Safety Goals and Targets. As the project grows, will take the responsibility of acting in close support to the technical authority for key design safety aspects of the project, such as the integration of OSP and its systems. Reporting to the HSE&S Manager, the Safety Engineer will also be maintaining compliance with all Legal/Group requirements ensuring that all areas of responsibility adhere to current regulatory developments.

Located initially at UK HQ, then at Construction/Operation (TBC) Port during offshore construction.

Responsibilities:
Support to the CDM-C as necessary in assessment of tenderers' competence to manage and implement design safety
Reviewing and monitoring design decisions to ensure due cognisance is paid to design safety
Supporting development of contracts and technical specifications to ensure a consistent approach to design safety and safety goals
Develop and maintain Residual Risk Register
Reviewing Contractors' design documentation, in particular key documents
Focal point for Client input to Contractor led Design Safety Reviews, HAZIDs etc
Coordinate and run internal Design Safety Reviews, HAZIDs, and ensure these are suitably documented and included in the project H&S file
Facilitate externally moderated formal risk reduction workshops (eg Thesis BOWTIE, FMEA etc)
Coordinate development and application of specialist hazard assessment and management techniques
Lead on development of Client's overall Wind Farm System Document
Technical authority for key safety related equipment on offshore and onshore installations such as Life Saving apparatus evacuation, escape and rescue equipment and systems

Skills:
Detailed knowledge of the application of UK HSE Legislation, Regulations and Guidance applicable to Renewable Offshore Industry
Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2007 Designer Duties with proven capability to communicate and coordinate effectively with Project CDM-C
Knowledge of application of the Machinery Directive
Proven capability in leading, assembly and writing of Major Project Documentation (such as Safety Case)
Strong experience of chairing/leading HAZIDs and experience of various hazard analysis techniques
Understanding of Goal setting safety regimes and experience of safety case development
Detailed knowledge of LSA and design of evacuation, escape and rescue equipment and systems
Experience of project execution and design development
Attained or working towards chartered status
Good understanding of safety issues of onshore construction and offshore windfarm construction including associated wind turbine legislation
