Corporate Communications Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

To work with the communications management team in the development of the wider communications strategy and take specific responsibility for developing and implementing the Corporate Communications. Support organisational/cultural development and protect and enhance the authoritys reputation with key audiences including staff, senior managers and members. To manage the full range of corporate communication channels, campaigns and events for Members and staff, evaluating their effectiveness, to ensure key messages are consistently applied across the business. Protect the reputation through effective management of and further development the brand. Contribute to the successful outcomes of key organisational change programmes through creative and effective communications services. To work in partnership with the Councils HR colleagues to position Council as an employer of choice for existing and potential employees, both nationally and locally.

Relevant Experience Required.

  • In depth experience of working at a senior level in complex organisations on internal communications and employee engagement to support significant change, including cultural, behavioural and/or organisational change.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing successful and innovative strategies/plans/initiatives in relation to communications and marketing work with management experience at senior level, within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience in the application of best practice that provide effective, high quality services which are responsive to organisational and customer need
  • Experience of delivering effective change communications within a large, complex organisation.
  • Experience in providing strategic advice on communication channel methodology and implementation based on audience insight and channel effectiveness.
  • Experience in asserting editorial and design control to ensure appropriate tone, content, style and consistency.
  • Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating corporate campaigns which get messages across and reinforce an organisational brand.
  • Experience of acting as an advisor to Members and Officers on corporate communication issues
  • Experience in managing, motivating and developing a diverse team and ensuring performance goals are met and exceeded.
  • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with Members, officers, trade unions, partners and other key stakeholders
  • Experience of delivering high standard, customer focused services through others Demonstrable experience of developing and managing a team.
  • Desirable Experience of commissioning and working with external consultants to deliver successful outcomes. Evidence of strong and successful project/programme management experience
