GLOBAL ENGINEERING MANAGER - Swindon

To £65,000 basic+ Car allowance + Bonus + Pension + excellent benefits

Huxley Associates have an exciting new opportunity for an engineering manager to work in the Rail and Mass Transportation division. As part of the companys strategic diversification plan they are now looking to continue build a technically motivated team who can bring engineering excellence and creativity to the business.

Reporting to the Global Engineering Directors this role will support all aspects of the quality process during New Product Development (NPD) process.

Role & Responsibilities
-Lead and Support Development Engineers and Project Managers in integration of quality in New Product Development.
-Coordinate the deployment of resources to work on projects, define the processes required to support production
-Maintain a focus on research and development, and competitor awareness
-Working with Project manager from inception on quality deliverables
-Managing risk assessment during the project cycle, using FMEA and Critical Parameter Management.
-Auditing the NPD and quality process, preparing reports
-Liaising with the customers, suppliers, sales organisation and product managers regarding all quality issues
-Facilitate Six Sigma and other management tools and methodologies

Engineering Manager: 10 Must-have Attributes

  • 10+ years experience growing new product introduction engineering departments of 25-100 engineers. With demonstrated successes and failures.
  • From In Rail/Aerospace/Military/Automotive/Medical/Nuclear industry (high consequences of failure).
  • Proven ability to manage multi-cultural teams on geographically distant locations. Culturally aware and flexible.
  • 3+ years experience of systemised resource management - successful.
  • Clear examples of pioneering new engineering processes - standardisation, continuous improvement, design automation.
  • Mechanical/electrical or electro-mechanical engineering background (not electronics).
  • Systems or subsystems engineering (not components), engineered solutions.
  • Life-cycle engineering/sustaining engineering experience, 5+ years with demonstrated successes.
  • 3+ years in phase-gated NPI process.
  • Demonstrated competency development record internationally across his/her teams.
