For our client from the science-based industry located in Sittard-Geleen, the Netherlands, we are currently looking for a Service Architect.

The Service Architect is responsible for the development and maintenance of the department services roadmap and targets the IT Service Architecture. The Service Architect translates it into clear requirements, products and service descriptions on a strategical and tactical level. The Service Architect builds business cases, gets approval from the business and enables projects, changes and operations to design solutions. Most important is that the service architect shows ownership for delivering end to end services focused on the customers.

Job Description/Project Background:
Builds a vision on our clients infrastructure, Aurora and related components for the short, mid and long term in cooperation with all stakeholders.
Translates the vision into roadmaps, architectural requirements, high level design policies and standards for the internal department.
Influence your stakeholders across the globe by driving the vision and map it to business issues and questions.
Guard the consistency, inter-operability & manageability of the departments services and related components end to end.
Assess business requests and develop these request to fit into the deparments vision and roadmaps.
Maintain relevant strategic/tactical knowledge and keep up with latest technology developments and thus focus on continuous improvement.
Advice, support and coach design engineers in service creation.
Review and approve solution designs from projects and changes.
Prepares the work packages for the design engineers during projects.

What we are looking for:
We are looking for a customer oriented, result driven IT professional with strong analytical skills. You are a strong communicator. You have at least a Bachelors' degree in business administration or IT and at least 6 years experience as an IT Architect in a global company (or working for a global customer). You have knowledge of TOGAF (enterprise architecture methodology and framework) and ITIL (service management and life cycle). You have excellent communication skills in English. You are able to fulfil a bridge function between the customer and the internal IT organization, understanding and translating business needs into requirements and design. You have a holistic mindset and consider the bigger picture but are also able to dig into the technicalities. You are a team worker who takes initiative and coaches colleagues in a global, multicultural setting. We prefer candidates with work experience with international teams, especially in Asia.
Connectivity related
Knowledge of WAN and its impact to business applications.
Knowledge of network redundancy, recovery methods and contingency procedures.
Knowledge of network infrastructure components like Cisco Routers and Switches
Wide Area Networking; Routers and IP routing, leased lines, DSL, Frame Relay, MPLS, WAN Acceleration etc.
Local Area Networking; Ethernet, Layer2/3 switching, VLAN technology and trunking, WiFi
Internet Access; proxies, URL filters, virus scanning, SMTP, SPAM filters, Firewalls, DMZ, captive portals, IPS/IDS etc.
Remote Access technologies; IPSec, SSL-VPN, iPass, strong authentication, certificates etc.
Third Party Access; NAT/PAT, Firewalling, VPN
Network management experience of Cisco (CCNA); NetQos
AD/Hosting related
Server: Microsoft Windows
Directory: Microsoft Active Directory
AD Proxy tooling
Software distribution: SCCM
Virus protection
Backup strategies
