Construction Manager- Electrical - Berkshire - up to £55ph

To manage the day to day safe, secure and clean construction works on company sites, and to assist the Senior Construction Manager (SCM) in the delivery of the project to time, cost and quality required. Manage the relationship between contractors and the project in order to achieve joint goals in a safe manner to the highest quality standards.

Key accountabilities
Ensure safe, secure and clean operations on the Construction Site
Proactively support the SCM throughout the duration of the project
Provide technical construction and implementation advice during the development phase
Ensure that project staff and contractors are aware of company safety and quality management system requirements
Identify and communicate 'lessons learned' and continuous improvement activities
Ensure that construction site supervisors are aware of their duties under the project contract, statutory responsibilities and company standards and expectations
Visible commitment to safety, improvement programmes and follows up accidents and injuries
Assist in the creation and maintain a culture of zero accidents

Responsibilities
To ensure that I understand and apply my responsibilities with regard to the Company's Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
Challenge design and provide installation solutions ensuring compliance with CDM regulations
Manage an Electrical Construction team and advise with any issues arising from within the project implementation
Comply with company wide processes, standards, procedures, work instructions and ensure these are integrated into project contracts
Monitor that all contractors manage activities on the project to comply with all legal requirements, including Nuclear Site
Licence Conditions and company procedures
Drive constructability process within Front End development
Early identification, notification and accurate recording of contract variances
To assist in the managing the Abnormal Event and Assurance Observation Report process
Communicating to employees and contractors of the importance of meeting customer requirements reference to statutory and internal regulatory procedures
Review, comment and respond to contractor programmes from tender to completion
Review RFI and EWN communications prior to response to contractor to determine cost and schedule implications
Assist the SCM with project change management processes
Determine and raise any instructions or notifications to contractor
Chair and minute construction meetings as required such as Plan of the Week/Day
Attend and assist the SCM in risk reduction meetings
Implement the project strategy and use the instructions and processes within the company approved process maps
Assists in management of (SQESH) security, quality, environment, safety and health performance, against company policy and management systems

Knowledge
Trade Qualification in construction related discipline
HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent demonstrable standard of experience in a construction related discipline
NVQ Level 4 Construction Management certification
Overall knowledge of both Mechanical and Electrical practices, but with a strong level of knowledge in Electrical.
Must have a good knowledge of construction industry customs and best practice
Must have a thorough understanding of building/construction technology, terms and processes appropriate to a discipline
Must have good working knowledge of contracts and administration, particularly NEC3 and GC Works
Must have an awareness of project reporting, programme management, interpreting and implementing objectives
Must have a good basic understanding of both the building & construction industry quality standards, acceptable standards of workmanship and requirement (appropriate to discipline)
