Description

Yourvine is a social advocacy website that collaborates with brands to create challenges, games and experiences designed to energise their biggest fans. We create memorable experiences that connect people. We believe brands and causes get stronger when they bring people together.

Our platform hosts missions and challenges that lets fans join forces, get involved and co-create. When fans play, they drive brands' content, social impressions and engagement. In return, the brand rewards them. Connections get more fun, fair and powerful. And our technology makes it so simple that anyone can use it and see results within hours.

Do you want to help us build a product where ‘engagement’ is measured in hours not seconds, and >60% of our users access us from their phones? Are you interested in solving tricky problems in user-level caching, ORM performance, and real time stream computation?

Performance Profile

Working in a small team of 4-5, you will be responsible for architecting and developing products, and safeguarding the quality of our codebase and platform. Specifically, this means you will:

1. On an ongoing basis, architect, and deploy products in a highly modular and API-centric environment (we use Django, Heroku, codeship.io, and Mandrill).
2. Take ownership of your products and code. That means identifying and solving problems as a matter of course, and making decisions quickly.
3. Write tested and maintainable code, and peer review it for quality and learning.
4. Define and refine deployment and development processes and standards with the team.
5. Release code frequently, and work in a SCUMM environment.

You will like it here if you:

1. Like being part of something new, and love developing great software for the web.
2. Have a particular interest in SOA and RESTful APIs - they're essential to our product.
3. Want to progress quickly to take ownership of products, and responsibility for their success and shortcomings.
4. Are a well-rounded developer, regardless of years of experience.
5. Have a sense of realistic optimism about working in a start-up. That includes the good (learning, rapid feedback, seeing your solutions live in days not weeks), bad (occasional chaos, long days), and sometimes ugly (like realising our solution has no matching problem).
6. Understand and champion the benefits of agile, test-driven development and continuous integration.
7. Value pragmatism, shipped features, and data-driven feedback loops.
8. Have a tolerable commute to our new office near Oval in London.
